In furtherance of its institutional appreciation tour at the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, the Coordinator of the National Association of Polytechnic Students North Central Zone extended a strategic courtesy visit to the Polytechnic’s Security Unit—recognized as one of the most vital operational arms of the institution.
The visit underscored the Zone’s commitment not only to administrative collaboration but also to acknowledging the foundational role security plays in safeguarding academic stability, student welfare, and institutional prosperity.
Recognition of the Security Unit’s Critical Role
The Zonal Coordinator emphasized that no academic environment can thrive without a robust and proactive security architecture. He described the Security Unit as an indispensable pillar within the Polytechnic’s structure—ensuring that teaching, learning, and student activities occur within a safe and protected atmosphere.
The Coordinator noted that while security operations often function behind the scenes, their impact is central to the preservation of life, property, and institutional order.
Engagement with the Chief Security Officer
The delegation was warmly received by the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Mallam Isah Naladan, a retired officer of the Department of State Services (DSS) and former Deputy Chief Security Officer at Ahmadu Bello University. His extensive background in national and institutional security management reflects decades of disciplined service and professional expertise.
Mallam Isah Naladan expressed appreciation for the visit and congratulated the NAPS North Central Coordinator and his executive members on their assumption of office. He wished the administration a successful and impactful tenure.
Commitment to Student Safety
In his remarks, the CSO reaffirmed that the Security Unit operates around the clock to ensure that student lives and property remain protected. He emphasized that security is a shared responsibility and encouraged stronger collaboration between student leadership and security personnel.
He highlighted that proactive information-sharing significantly enhances preventive security efforts. In a clear call to collective vigilance, he stated:
“If you see something, please say something. The smallest piece of information can prevent incidents and help save countless lives.”
His statement reinforced the importance of a security-conscious student community—one where awareness, responsibility, and cooperation form the foundation of safety.

The engagement provided an opportunity to strengthen trust and coordination between student leadership and the Security Directorate. The Coordinator reiterated the Zone’s readiness to support initiatives that improve campus safety awareness and assist security officers in carrying out their duties effectively.
